Unified Power Quality Conditioner Using Recent Optimization Technique: A Case Study in Cairo Airport, Egypt

This article offers a power quality (PQ) strategy to reduce light intensity flickers, voltage enhancements, and harmonics mitigation of the grid current in extensive networks LED lighting at Cairo airport, Egypt. A transformerless unified conditioner (TL-UPQC) with its controls is presented address majority PQ issues network. The TL-UPQC comprises dynamic restorer (DVR) as series compensator, which quickly maintains load when there decrease, surge, or flickering network an active filter (APF) acts shunt compensator that reduces harmonic currents injects reactive currents. gain values PI controller are obtained using extended bald eagle search (EBES) optimizer. In addition, comparative study three optimizers, namely, moth flame (MFO), cuckoo (CSA), salp swarm algorithm (SSA), test performance fast response. results showed APF nearly unity PF produced THD by bulbs for were abolished becomes 3.29%. Additionally, verified could cancel fluctuations problems so UPQC’s successfully achieved provide flicker-free this appeared clearly used airport. MATLAB simulation has been employed confirm proposed TL-UPQC’s effectiveness.
